“He takes men out of time and makes them feel eternity.”
Ralph Waldo Emerson
Our new normal makes going to an Easter Sunday sunrise service impossible. That’s okay with me. Raised in the Lutheran church, I’ve long since moved away from the dogma and creed of organized religion in favor of a more spiritual connection to God by whatever name you choose.
However, I do like to take advantage of the collective energy surrounding Easter to make my moment for reflection and gratitude. And, I find sunrise a poignant time to do so.
The Blue Ridge Parkway is still open, so the dogs and I went up one of our favorite overlooks, got out a camp chair, and waited. We weren’t disappointed. As a bonus, the waning moon was bright in the clear sky.
One of my rules of taking sunrise photos is once the sun is bright enough to cause the image to washout, turnaround. Looking Glass Rock is behind Zorro and Essie.
Wishing you a happy Easter.
